Scenic World
Nestled in the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains, Scenic World offers a self-guided nature-based experience like no other. Less than two hours from Sydney and open every day of the year, Scenic World is a must-see destination with epic rides and views.
Set high on an escarpment opposite the world-famous Three Sisters, Scenic World was originally home to a coal mine that dated back to 1878. Today Scenic World is home to the Scenic Railway, the world’s steepest passenger train originally built to haul coal up from a mine in the Jamison Valley; the Scenic Skyway, the only horizontal-passenger-carrying cable car in Australia, which crosses the Jamison Valley at a height of 270 metres; and the Scenic Cableway, the steepest aerial cable car in the Southern Hemisphere providing magnificent views of Orphan Rock, Mount Solitary and surrounding cliff faces.
Take a break from the thrill of the rides as you enjoy the Scenic Walkway, an elevated boardwalk that links the base of the Scenic Railway and Scenic Cableway. And, after you’ve built up a mountainous appetite, visit the Terrace Café & Bar, offering everything from hot meals and coffees to local beers and ice cream...with a side of the best view in the Blue Mountains. Catering to all tastes and dietary requirements, you can visit the Terrace Café & Bar without a ticket to Scenic World.
Scenic World is open every day of the year - from 9am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and 10am-4pm on weekdays. During summer and school holidays Scenic World is open 9am-5pm every day.
